Gastrointestinal bleeding
Intestinal perforation (usually of terminal ileum, occasionally of colon)
Encephalopathy accompanied by hemodynamic shock
Hepatitis
Cholecystitis
Pneumonia (may be due to secondary infection with other organisms such as Streptococcus pneumoniae)
Myocarditis
Acute kidney injury, nephritis
Deep-seated abscess (e.g., spleen, large joint, bone)
Anemia
Meningitis (in infants)
Neurological disturbance (cerebellar ataxia)
Miscarriage
Psychiatric disturbance
Disseminated intravascular coagulation
Relapse
Chronic carriage (fecal or urinary carriage for >1 yr)
Carcinoma of gallbladder
